Headteacher's welcome

Welcome to Willow Tree! We are incredibly proud of our school, our brilliant children and our local community.

We are fortunate to have the most incredible facilities, with three school fields, two large playgrounds, an orchard, separate canteen, two halls, gardening and nature areas with a pond and woodland, as well as our own school swimming pool!

We are passionate about outdoor learning, the power of nature to inspire and the learning that comes through hands-on experiences both in and out of school. We prioritise school trips and visits into nature through our innovative farm-twinning program and our children benefit from the opportunity to learn outside regularly and connect with the natural environment around them.

At Willow Tree we encourage children to develop their imagination, curiosity, and creativity. Our curriculum is built on a love for reading, a passion for the outdoors and inspiring, immersive learning. Books are the golden thread that run through the school, with stories being used to support learning across the curriculum and throughout the day.

We are determined that every child should realise their full potential, with no exceptions. We are ambitious for our children which is why every child has the opportunity to learn an instrument, and why we invest so heavily in extra-curricular opportunities. In 2023-24 we offered over 40 different clubs and sporting opportunities for our children.

Our children deserve the absolute best – they only get one chance at primary school and we are determined they make the most of it! That’s why we’ve recently embarked on a renovation project across our entire site, and each year are refurbishing a suite of classrooms.

We’re one of the few schools in Harrogate offering teacher-led Nursery provision. We have 15 and 3-hour places available for children from the age of three upwards.

You can find us on Twitter (@WillowPrimary) and Facebook (facebook.com/WillowTreePrimary) to get a flavour of all the amazing things going on at school – we love to celebrate and share the children’s achievements.

We welcome visits to our school throughout the year. We would love to meet you and introduce you to our fantastic children – contact the office to arrange your tour.

I look forward to meeting you soon and welcoming you to the Willow Tree family.
